Set your goals for this next year today, then hold fast to them and write them on your heart, then set your mind on accomplishing them for your success this year.

“There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and the burning desire to possess it.”
- Napoleon Hill

Be All You Can Be in 2010

Learning to act out your will …

Winter is the time to study, either to enhance your knowledge of your current job or to assess whether your plans for a career change have been cohesively structured.  There is a school of thought that once you have decided where your career is leading, you have essentially set up a path along which tendencies and circumstances in your life will also move.  In Western magical traditions it is said that, by concentrating intently on what you wish to happen, you open an “astral doorway” to a new reality where what you want to bring into being will actually happen.  But your intention must be strong.  There is a famous saying in magic – “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law”.  The key to this philosophy is that you need to be very clear of your true will, attuning your goals to the often hidden purposes of your Higher Self.

Ancient Wisdom

Nothing truly stops you.  Nothing truly holds you back.  For your own will is always within your control.  Epictetus (55 AD – 135 AD)

Moving through the seasons, in Spring you should have already decided what your “will” is concerning your career.  Your will has the been strengthened in Summer by consistently building a portfolio of images and information about your choice.  In Autumn, you would have cleared the energetic paths in your work place and at home to help your purpose along.  In Winter, you take the next step by imagining the success of your plan.  For instance, imagine sitting in a new office with a nice healthy pay check in the drawer.  Imagine everything about the office and visualize how you look and feel in the new environment.

If you notice that your mind starts to wander when trying to visualize the success of your project, it might be worthwhile to do a few visualization exercises.  Try focusing on a photograph of a landscape, noticing all the details it contains.  Once you feel confident that you know the picture well, tear the photograph in half.  Put one half on the table in front of you you and try to visualize the other half.

Short Checklist for Career Success

Focus your will – Feel confident in your power to change – Weigh the merits of the change – Visualize your successful career!

Consider how you can make your part of the world a better place and then take action to make it better!

“Don’t spend your precious time asking ‘Why isn’t the world a better place?’ It will only be time wasted. The question to ask is ‘How can I make it better?’ To that there is an answer.”

- Leo F. Buscaglia

Be full of courage and believe in yourself. Act on your goals and dreams today!

“Often the difference between a successful man and a failure is not one’s better abilities or ideas, but the courage that one has to bet on his ideas, to take a calculated risk, and to act.”

- Maxwell Maltz

Celebrating the Winter Solstice

The Winter Solstice began on December 21st of this year.  The Winter Solstice, or Yule, is known in the Christian calendar as Christmas, the time of the birth of Christ.  The Sun is at its lowest point in the heavens.  The birth of new promise and hope is celebrated at this time because from this day onward the nights will again become shorter and the days will be longer.

The Anglo-Saxon word “Yule” means “Wheel” and is said to be a reference to the Wheel of the Year.  Bringing a young evergreen into the home was one of the traditions of Yule.  The tree was decorated with fruits, berries, and nuts, symbolizing the continuity of the seasons’ cycle and the cycle of life itself.  Another tradition linked with trees is the burning of the Yule log.  This symbolizes the return of warmth and light.

Personal rituals around the Yule can focus on what your new plans are going to be for the new year.  You may at this time receive some insight into what path you may take in the new cycle.  If you are burning the Yule log (or any other wood log), look into the flames for a while and sometimes the smoke or the shape of the burning wood can give you images or symbols that can help you choose your true path.

Try to focus on the coming new year and celebrate!

Guard your integrity and be your best!

“With integrity you have nothing to fear, since you have nothing to hide. With integrity you will do the right thing, so you will have no guilt. With fear and guilt removed you are free to be and do your best. ”

- Zig Zigler

Be the best you can be, and look for ways to bring out the best in others today!

“To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success.”

- Ralph Waldo Emerson

Set your goals high, and do your best to reach them today!

“Far away in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.”

- Louisa May Alcott

Light someone’s lamp today!

I met a stranger in the night,

Whose lamp had ceased to shine.

I paused and let him light

                 His lamp from mine.

A tempest sprang up later on

                 And shook the world about

And when the wind was gone

                My lamp was out!

But back to me the stranger came …

                His lamp was glowing fine!

He held the precious flame

               And lighted mine!

It’s Christmas Time …

Christmas time has come again!  What a joy for girls and boys,  With its snowballing and fun, With its sleighing and its noise!

Santa Claus’ bag is full, Of the sweetest, loveliest things; Dolls, like babies beautiful.  Balls, and drums, and glittering rings.

Haste and get the little stockings, Santa Claus, you know, don’t stay; Always he flies up the chimney Ere it’s light on Christmas Day.

And at night sweet little eyes, Shut as tight as tight can be.  Santa Claus don’t like us looking … Leaves us nothing, if we see.

Oh, the candies!  Oh, the apples!  Peeping from the stocking top; Nuts ans raisins here in plenty, Gorgeous looking lumps of rock.

Oh, the dolls with golden tresses!  Oh, the glorious big drum!  Let us fill the air with shouting, Dear old Christmas time has come!

Every face is wreathed with gladness, Oh, it is a sight to see, Such a set of lovely fairies, Dancing ’round the Christmas tree!

Santa Claus has left his treasures for his darlings, every one.

Is not this a time of pleasure?  Dear old Cristmas time has come!
