Be All You Can Be in 2010

Learning to act out your will …

Winter is the time to study, either to enhance your knowledge of your current job or to assess whether your plans for a career change have been cohesively structured.  There is a school of thought that once you have decided where your career is leading, you have essentially set up a path along which tendencies and circumstances in your life will also move.  In Western magical traditions it is said that, by concentrating intently on what you wish to happen, you open an “astral doorway” to a new reality where what you want to bring into being will actually happen.  But your intention must be strong.  There is a famous saying in magic – “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law”.  The key to this philosophy is that you need to be very clear of your true will, attuning your goals to the often hidden purposes of your Higher Self.

Ancient Wisdom

Nothing truly stops you.  Nothing truly holds you back.  For your own will is always within your control.  Epictetus (55 AD – 135 AD)

Moving through the seasons, in Spring you should have already decided what your “will” is concerning your career.  Your will has the been strengthened in Summer by consistently building a portfolio of images and information about your choice.  In Autumn, you would have cleared the energetic paths in your work place and at home to help your purpose along.  In Winter, you take the next step by imagining the success of your plan.  For instance, imagine sitting in a new office with a nice healthy pay check in the drawer.  Imagine everything about the office and visualize how you look and feel in the new environment.

If you notice that your mind starts to wander when trying to visualize the success of your project, it might be worthwhile to do a few visualization exercises.  Try focusing on a photograph of a landscape, noticing all the details it contains.  Once you feel confident that you know the picture well, tear the photograph in half.  Put one half on the table in front of you you and try to visualize the other half.
